The Gwinnett County Court house boys in Lawrenceville, Georgia can't stop talking about the the devastating effect of budget woes on DUI enforcement in Gwinnett County. Apparently, the DUI Court, a successful statewide DUI imitative to get DUI drivers off the road with rehabilitation instead of jail time which merely delays alcohol abuse and doesn't stop it, is being shut down.
Further, the Gwinnett County Police Department DUI task force is rumored to be disbanding and officer's and equipment is being parceled out to other divisions of the police department. Gwinnett DUI arrests seem to substantiate this rumor as DUI arrest have decreased from over 100 a week to 50 a week in a very short period.
