Political Grandstanding… and a DUI? – Athens State House Candidate Under Fire

Grandstanding and creating a positive public persona are the bread and butter of politics. But as Robert Kessler, candidate for the 118th State House District in Athens, GA, has found, explicitly running on a platform of personal responsibility will dredge up the past. Kessler has had two DUIs and has an interlock device on his vehicle. He has to be driven to each of his campaign events because of a license suspension. Although students of the University of Georgia, a notorious party school, may be sympathetic to Kepler’s legal woes, driving under the influence is dangerous. Evening though drinking then driving is not a crime, Politicians should avoid even the appearance of impropriety so just don’t drink and drive at all.
