Time Magazine reported on October 7, 2014 that Georgia State Patrol Marijuana Eradication Team raids homeowners garden and seized a heap of Okra in Cartersville in Bartow County Georgia. Apparently, either the Officers had been at another location previously burning illegal Marijuana bushes which rendered them unable to distinguish between okra and marijuana leaves or they need to go on a fact-finding mission to Colorado, Amsterdam and Jamaica. Helpful mnemonic devices have been suggested such as: if it has five leaves its for the kettle but if it has seven leaves then its pot; five leaves is for frying but seven leafs is for smoking ; and if it has a pod it is not pot.
Master gardeners across the state have been voluntarily destroying their okra in order to avoid armed night-time tactical raids by para-military police donning night vision goggles. Others law abiding citizens have simply vowed to stay away from cans of okra see the youtube video for citizen response.
