WSB-TV reported on September 1st, 2015 that Wellstar Hospital System in Metro-Atlanta is refusing to draw blood of non-consenting drivers even when a warrant is issued. Hospital officials have stated that law enforcement is welcome to draw the blood but hospital employees will not be drawing the blood. Hospitals said simply that their personnel are trained to draw blood from consenting adults only. Law Enforcement officials claim that this prevents them from prosecuting DUI cases. This begs the question that if you can not prove the drivers are impaired by alcohol without blood how are you getting a warrant to draw the drivers blood in the first place.
