Is Drinking after a DUI crash or stop a good idea

On Saturday, August 30, 2014, the Tampa Bay Times posted an article on whether if you drink after a DUI crash can you avoid a DUI? In Georgia, a DUI whether based on a breath or blood test or if there is no chemical test, based on your ability to drive safe (which is determined by demeanor and field sobriety tests like the one-leg stand and walk and turn) has to be based on alcohol consumed before or while driving.  This makes drinking after a DUI crash seems like a good idea, but first, it takes your blood alcohol level between 30 minutes and 2 hours to peak. Further, a single 12-ounce beer should only raise your blood alcohol level .015 to .03.  So unless you guzzle a pint of moonshine right in front of the police, it is going to be hard to make a difference. On the other hand, all you need to beat a DUI is reasonable doubt.
