DeKalb Recorders Court has a new website that allows the entry of a not guilty plea by fax or e-mail. Electronic pleas must be done at least ten (10) days prior to the arraignment date assigned by the DeKalb County Police Officer on the Uniform Traffic Citation (UTC). On the website, there is an advisement of rights form that has to be acknowledged and then a plea can be sent from the website.
An on-line Traffic Bureau should be available on July 1st, 2010. The DeKalb County on-line Traffic Bureau allows citations to be reduced to administrative penalties once per year and no more than three times in any given five year period. To utilize the on-line Traffic Bureau payments must be made online.
Another new program at the DeKalb County Recorders Court is Standing Order. It allows persons charged with minor offenses such as no headlight, tail light, cracked windshield offenses, no license on person, and expired tag to come to Court ten days prior to there arraignment date listed on the UTC and pay a greatly reduced fine or have the card reduced to an ordinance violation.
Finally, the DeKalb County Recorders Court has a feature on its website called information window. The DeKalb Recorders Court receives 50,000 phone calls a month and only has two employees to answer the phones. Therefore, Information Window on the website will allow questions to be answered by email with a response in 24-48 hours.
